 Websites from scratch

Welcome to Walkingfossil Studio
Websites built for Visual artists
and Fine Art galleries

I design and build unique websites for visual artists, contemporary and fine art galleries, art organizations and small businesses. I personally work "one on one" with you to fine tune a website to your vision. Websites are the coin of the realm, a thoughtful color and layout creates the perfect tool to show your work and reach your audience.

Visit finished websites by clicking their images.

 Visual Artist sites

Websites made for visual artists

For many people, including curators, gallery owners, and collectors, a website will be the first time they are introduced to your work. I am a painter, I live and breath visual art. I understand the special care needed to translate your work into digital form. (Color correcting digital images and scanned slides, fixing warped angles). I will work with you to design the perfect website to present the images, history, and story for your evolving art.

 Art organizations

Websites made for Art Organizations
and non-Profits

An art organization with its members, volunteers, exhibition and performance spaces, can be an unwieldy but passionate adventure. I can build for your group a website that helps promote your organization and its events. One that links your efforts with your members and your surrounding art community all the while helping to reach out and expand your base.

 Contemporary art galleries

Websites for contemporary and fine
art galleries

A sharp professionally designed gallery website will attract collectors and help build a serious reputation for you in the art world. I will design individual pages for your artist's current art and work with your curator to design the necessary exhibition pages and calendar to promote your shows and receptions.

 Small Business Commercial sites

websites for small businesses
and professional serives

I have designed small business websites for domestic service placement, art moving and storage, urban garden and stonework design, and Pilate Studios. Whether your market is local or regional I can work to design the website that attracts and holds customers and promotes your products and services.

You're a visual artist, I'm a visual artist.

Let's build you a website that merges your visual style with the sites design. No templates here. Use your feel for colors and actual art images to populate the design. Provide visiters (and the search engines) with the information that tells your unique story, the journey of your art.

You own a gallery, I love galleries...

Let's go the extra mile to build your site to promote your artists and gallery in this fun and very serious world of art. You need the artists and they need you. This website can be the gateway to introduce your new artists, sell their work and facilitate sucessful receptions. Ballyhoo your reputation and expertise in the art community.

about scotty

Scotty Stevenson was born in the Texas panhandle in the mid-50's, part of a meandering oil field family. He had a checkerboard rearing moving up and down the Southern gulf coast, ending up in Singapore in the late 60's. He returned to states in 73 to study photography at the Maryland Institute College Of Art where he fell under the thrall of painting. Weaned years later into the the bizarre world of computers he began his self taught career of designing websites from Baltimore to Austin.

Sadly no more darkrooms, but paintings in Morse Code and building Halloween sculptures keeps one busy.

Very moving post from artists friend Shaun Williams:
"My mission as an artist is to take people away from where they really are, by working with photo-realism. I want them to be able to "step" into my drawings. I want them to sit on my rocks, and stroll through my forests. I want them to swim under my waterfalls. I want them to feel lost in the heart of nature.

A piece of art should be something that engulfs the viewer. This is your gift to them. My wish is to blur the border between art and reality."

Walking Fossil Studio was surprised and happy to be approached by a very sweet gifted pastel artist from Michigan to build his artist website. He and I especially had fun making his fading globe of art banner.

Working in collaboration with Baltimore artist Minás Konsolas and Peggy Hoffman, owners of Minás Boutique and Gallery, Walkingfossil rebuilt their aging business and art gallery website. Recognizing how popular Minás paintings were I used his original paintings to design a mural collage banner. We also built the boutique and gallery events around Minás's photography of local poets and clients modeling their vintage clothing. They have built one of Baltimores best literary events hotspot, local artist gallery ,and clothing store.
